Taunton Area School to Career, Inc. is about helping young people to become professionally competitive within a global economy in the 21st century. We continue to bridge the gap between business and education in order to improve tomorrow’s workforce. And we continue to invite you to come along with us.
TASC provides services to approximately 3000 students a year, which allows our children to envision a future job or career while relating it to their present academic studies. TASC works with the academically challenged, the middle of the roaders, the future tradesmen and the college bound. All levels of students benefit from our programs - because it is all levels of students who will become our future workforce.
TASC is about extending the classroom into the workplace in order to connect work and learning. It is about teaching students transferable skills that they will use all of their lives – such as problem solving, critical thinking, decision-making, team building and leadership and enhancing our students’ ability to make informed career decisions down the road. TASC provides year-round strategies to students, particularly at-risk students, helping them to stay in school, pass MCAS, graduate with a diploma, and transition to post-secondary education, advanced training or employment.
From 1995, when we began, to now, we have expanded our involvement into four related areas - Career Awareness/Exploration; Workforce Development/Job Readiness Training; MCAS Tutoring/Workforce Development; and Curriculum Development.
Be a part of the over 200 businesses who have joined with us to help provide young people with these very valuable experiences. Be a mentor to a high school sophomore, junior or senior and show them future career possibilities. Hire a high school intern and give them a chance to connect the dots between what they study in school and what they need to know in the world of work. Open your doors to a teacher and give them real life ideas to use in their classroom teaching. Let an interested student job shadow you for a day so they can find out the answer to the age-old question – Why do I have to learn this?
And please come to our fundraisers so we can continue to provide greater Taunton with all these great programs.
