Construction Career Day

Construction Career Day is sponsored by the Massachusetts Department of Education Connecting Activities Program, Taunton Area School to Career, and Bristol Workforce Investment Board. Every spring, 60 advanced Power Technology, Construction, and Architectural AutoCAD students from Bristol County Agricultural, Bristol-Plymouth Regional technical, and Taunton High Schools travel to the New England Laborers Training Facility in Hopkinton, MA, to learn about job opportunities in fields ranging from construction to engineering to environmental. Students participate in hands-on activities, including operating backhoes, excavators, pavers, and jackhammers; participating in concrete finishing, welding, cutting and burning; and doing electrical work, carpentry, brick and block laying, surveying, field engineering and more. They also have the opportunity to visit with exhibitors from colleges, trade schools and certification programs that serve the construction industry.
