The MRA/Prostart program is a partnership between the Mass
Restaurant Association (MRA) Hospitality Institute, the Hospitality Business
Alliance (HBA) and in cooperation with the Mass. Dept. of Education, regional
School-to-Career Partnerships and high schools statewide. It entails:
Two-year program preparing high
school juniors and seniors for careers in restaurant management using a
curriculum developed by the National Restaurant Association Educational
Foundation.
Ten -twelve hours per week (minimum)
paid and graded internship in the restaurant/foodservice industry for after
school, weekends, and summer hours.
Students matched with work site mentors to learn about the day-to-day operations of the industry and requirements of the world of work (1-3 interns per mentor).
